The colour of the year for 2018: Ultra Violet
Each year, the Pantone Colour Institute selects the colour of the year. This year, the colour experts have selected a strong, mystical, dark purple. This is a “dramatically provocative purple shade” that expresses “originality, imagination and visionary thinking,” according to the American company. The shade also provides originality in living areas and makes a powerful statement as a wall colour or in the form of sideboards, soft furnishings or accessories. Those who prefer a more understated style use accents – with accessories in a vibrant violet, or a white sideboard with drawers in brilliant purple. Violet appears especially modern when combined with light, neutral shades such as white or grey. Even combinations within the colour family, such as with lavender or mauve, impart a colourful structure to a room.
